Chill-OM

!
Type: sativa-indica
Contains landrace genetics from: Colombia; S.E. Asia
Cultivation: indoor/outdoor
Flowering time: 65-72 days/end of September-early October (south), late October (north)
Yield (dry weight): 300-500gr/m2; 600-1000gr per plant outdoor in the ground.
High: balanced, upbeat sativa high; pleasure enhancing; social & good for laughs; laid-back.
THC: 18.5-20%
Aroma: herbal (rosemary), frankincense, sage, minty-sweet.
Medical use: broad spectrum use; good potential against lethargy & depression.

With this strain we offer a connoisseur quality smoke at an amazing price. Chill-OM is also a good beginner strain, delivering a satisfying yield with just basic plant care. It has all the benefits of hybrid vigour, nutrient efficiency, and the versatility of growing well under many different cultivation methods. Best results can be expected under a good light source such as HPS lamps, because the sativa genetics in this strain do require sufficient light intensity for abundant flowering and THC production. For further information on cultivation, we recommend that you read the advice offered on our website in the extensive grow guides for Mandala strains and cannabis in general.

Chill-OM grows thick stems and has well-defined, yet space saving, branching to provide excellent cuttings. It is also perfect for sea of green or close planting. This strain shows some phenotype variation that is mainly expressed in plant height during flowering. The tallest females will be the best choice as mother plants if you are aiming for maximum yield. They can also produce bumper crops outdoor - with long central colas that resemble a giant bong. Shorter females are excellent for small spaces, or for the balcony in regions with warm temperate or hot summers. Of course, you can easily modify height by pruning down a tall plant, or raising a shorter one with an upturned container. If you are growing Chill-OM indoor from seed you should not exceed the 4 week vegetative period in soil. This will prevent issues with the unpruned plants of the taller pheno since growth is fast and strong. The max. height of a tall female under these conditions will be around 150cm/4.9 feet under 400-600W HPS. Pest and mold resistance is good and outdoor plants have survival capabilities against harsher weather from wind or storms due to their robustness. Please consult the Outdoor Guide on our website which regions are best.

Chill-OM easily compensates the lack of uniformity in plant height with it's exceptional top-grade marijuana. The buds are dense and have great 'bag appeal'. When crushed in a grinder, an interesting aromatic blend of frankincense and sage arises from the sticky buds. The smoke is smooth and rich, with a minty aftertaste on the exhale that leaves a pleasant freshness on the tongue like peppermint gum. Chill-OM strikes a perfect balance between potency and everyday enjoyability. After a quick cerebral onset it triggers the feel-good physical sensations. The high then reaches an even and motivating stone that is pleasantly relaxing, yet leaves you with enough energy for socializing or doing something creative. This marijuana can be fun for gaming, hanging out with friends. or watching a good movie. It's vibe is sensual and playful, enhancing the pleasure in whatever you are doing. As the name suggests, Chill-OM is perfect for laid-back hours and leaves a state ot wellbeing behind. Have fun and chill out!

Each limited edition of Krystalica has been a once-in-a-lifetime unique creation. With Krystalica you can witness how much time and energy we focus into the making of a Mandala strain. It has been five years since the last edition and during this period we have been meticulously selecting and testing a large selection of plants in search for a new pair of parents that can create a cross worthy of the predecessors in the Krystalica lineage.

Everyone who has even remotely enjoyed our Satori will appreciate Krystalica as another essential connoisseur strain. She offers a great package deal that is hard to come by: impressive resin production, good yields, easy growing, and a superb high. Although both strains have features in common, the cannabinoids in Krystalica make up a distinctly different high. Satori can be too overwhelming for some smokers. Krystalica is smoother and less dramatic in the intial phase of the high, therefore especially appreciated by sensitive persons, or those prone to paranoia and anxiety. This is also a sativa with a relaxing effect that makes you want to slow down and enjoy. Whereas Satori is also suitable for energetic pursuits or partying, Krystalica is best smoked when you want to wind down but stay refreshed or creative at the same time. The medical applications for Krystalica are extensive since it has top THC levels with a very pleasant high to match.

Krystalica can be grown indoor from seeds or clones. Use 400-600W HPS/m2 for best results because this is a high performance strain and may not flower well under low light. In hydroponics impressive yields can be expected – especially if you have selected a mother plant that brings the extra pounds on the scale. Krystalica grows long shoots extending from the bottom two internodes. These should be pruned in hydroponics or if your grow space is cramped. The remaining branches are of medium length but may require some support during late flowering if the buds become particularly heavy. It is usually sufficient to tie a thick string or gardening wire around the outside perimeter of the plant. The plants grow well in SOG and can be planted in close rows. With 4 weeks of vegetative growth under 400W HPS/m2 in quality soil you can expect the plants to reach a height between 70-110 cm. Use at least 5L/1 gallon containers for growth and 10L/2.5 gallon for flowering for plants from seed (clones can be raised in smaller containers). Bud development is unlike a typical sativa and quite dense with some plants exhibiting broad indica-type buds. Trichome production can reach amazing heights, extending to the sun leaves, so it pays to keep back-up clones and select the most spectacular individual as mother plant or for breeding projects.

Outdoor: Outdoor cultivation is recommended in regions with warm summers, or up to the 45°N. Krystalica is heat resistant and will grow well in arid-hot environments or a greenhouse. The head buds and side shoots can grow to extraordinary proportions and deliver bumper crops. Further north the performance and harvest date will depend on local weather and length of daylight. Sowing of seeds should commence when there is no more danger of nighttime frost. Sowing can be extended until end of May if you prefer to cultivate shorter plants. Start seeds indoor if the weather is cold and move the seedlings/young plants outdoor or to the greenhouse later. The same can be done with cuttings – but make sure that the light cycle is appropriate so that flowering doesn’t start too soon outside. Most Krystalica's have good mold resistance (more details in the online catalogue on phenotypes), but the plants should be harvested if it rains frequently in the last 2 weeks of flowering.

Visit our online catalogue for more information on Krystalica such as "phenotypes & selecting mother plants" and the "greenhouse report".

Beyond the Brain (Limited Edition)

!
Type: mainly sativa
Genetics: Columbian Sativa/Haze x Satori P1 (parent line)
Cultivation: indoor/outdoor
Flowering time: 70+ days/end of October (south), November (greenhouse-north)
Yield (dry weight): 250+ gr/m2; 500-850 gr per plant outdoor in the ground.
High: crystal-clear cerebral high; expansive; active and social; energizing; transcendental. Especially valuable for creative and spiritually orientated persons and nature lovers.
THC: 23-25%
Aroma: minty-sweet, thyme, some spice.
Medical use: excellent medical-grade marijuana for broad spectrum use. Great for experiencing a very clear, functional, motivational high with long-lasting potency along with the medical benefits.

Beyond the Brain is the definitive connoisseur high for the discerning cultivator. If you have tasted your share of sativas and are searching for the purity that only exceptional genetics can offer then you will appreciate this strain. Let Beyond the Brain open your doors of perception to new realms of awareness!

This is so far the only strain out of our genetic repertoire where we are willing to break tradition and offer a "beta version" as a limited collector’s edition. Those who have never grown a Mandala strain may find BTB quite similar in terms of growth to what they usually see in their garden. But seasoned Mandala growers are used to expect amazing vigour and generous, if not marvellous, yields from our strains – and rightly so! These outstanding traits have always featured high on our list of breeding goals along with other essentials such as potency. Beyond the Brain, however, is a modest plant that discreetly hides her secret until the very end, when all her inherent power is revealed as a true consciousness expanding herb of incredibly clarity and power. To preserve this undiluted, pure gateway to transcendental realms is our main intention in the future development of BTB, as we hope to infuse it with more dynamic growth over the coming years of this ongoing project. In the meantime, we would like to share this special high with you!

Beyond the Brain requires a good light source. We recommend the standard 400W-600 HPS/m2. If you are aiming for a higher indoor yield than indicated this is of course possible via the usual techniques. For example, in soil cultivation you can extend the growth cycle to 6-8 weeks. In hydro the yield can be improved by switching to 12/12 after the plants reach an adequate size such as 25-30 cm. Pruning, SCROG and other such methods are only sensible if the plant receives the appropriate additional vegetative time to develop it’s shoots. The height of mature females in soil cultivation reaches approximately 75-95 cm based on 4 weeks vegetative growth under a 20 hour light cycle. Since there is only moderate stretching this is a sativa that can be easily grown in a homebox too. The height of a Mandala strain is also always under your control by deciding when to switch to 12/12.

For indoor soil cultivation you basically only need to provide quality horticultural soil and the correct container size. Beyond the Brain will grow by herself if you let her and is a low-maintenance strain. Although BTB get’s off to a relatively slow start the mature plants show lasting health. They retain their fresh green foliage till the end of flowering and do not exhaust themselves like other varieties may do. This greatly simplifies plant care throughout flowering. BTB is not for growers who will feel motivated to fertilize her to death in order to force growth or extra bud development! If you extend the vegetative time then you may need to provide a mild feeding to top up nutrients in the soil in case you are not repotting soon. Experienced growers who are familiar with their soil brand and organic or mineral fertilizer will know what to do. If you are uncertain, simply "go with the flow" and repot your plants into fresh soil once they get rootbound.

Hydroponics: Use a low EC of 0.8-1.2 and adjust requirements on the basis of plant health and by comparing the EC of the drained nutrient solution with your fresh solution. This is a standard procedure that can be successfully applied to all Mandala strains and most cannabis plants in general. If your tap water is of low quality and already has a high EC you should use a household osmosis filter and mix the osmosis water 50-50 with tap water (experiment to see what ratio gives best results).

Outdoor: In the greenhouse Beyond the Brain will grow to a medium-range height and can be planted in an SOG (sea of green) style if required. For best results avoid uncontrolled pest infestation of spider mites or other sap-sucking insects, especially in a greenhouse where pests can reproduce unhindered by predator insects and wind & rain. When planted outdoor this strain is a good choice for warm temperate, mediterranean, and subtropical regions. Mold resistance is high.

UPDATE

One or more additional phenotypes have been appearing which we were not yet able to include in the initial strain details. Apparently there is much more potential regarding size and yield. Since this strain is still in development and undergoing tests, not all observations have been completed and we appreciate receiving feedback from customers with their results.

A recent grow report in coco coir with just 17 days vegetative time, plants topped once under 600W HPS, yielded between 30-45gr./1.05-1.58 oz dry buds per plant.

For image gallery click on the photo above...

This exceptional medical strain should not be missing in any garden if you are looking for a one-hit wonder with a good yield and delicious aroma. Point of No Return (P.N.R.) delivers a beautiful crop of thick cone-shaped buds crowned by towers of resiny calyxes. The long head bud tapers at the end like a peak and has a sufficiently airy structure that contributes to the high mold resistance. Although this is not a large plant it focuses a tremendous amount of energy into bud development and has potential as a high yielder - especially in hydroponics, a greenhouse, or outdoor. P.N.R. grows to a broad christmas tree shape with very long leaf stalks that allow light to pass through the plant, thereby allowing close planting despite the branchy growth. Pruning the the bottom side branches at the first two internodes can be beneficial, especially if you intend to grow in SOG or hydroponics. Due to it’s growth pattern P.N.R. may also be a good choice for SCROG and for cultivating a multi-branch plant. With 4 weeks of vegetative growth under 400W HPS/m2 in quality soil you can expect the plants to reach a height between 70-125cm and most will average between 90-100cm. To select the highest yielding mother plant with exceptional resin production we recommend focusing on the taller females. If you require shorter plants for a Homebox/grow tent/closet you can simply reduce the vegetative time to 3 weeks.

The medical properties are very promising for persons who require the benefits of a narcotic or pain reducing strain. The easy growing/low maintenance feature typical of our Mandala genetics adds to the many positive traits of Point of No Return which medical growers will appreciate, especially if they are unable to care for their garden in an intensive way. Flowering time can be extended a few days to further enhance CBD levels. The high is first felt in the head and an immobilizing effect sets in - emptying the mind of all thoughts. There is literally no turning back once you inhale the first tokes of Point of No Return. It’s best to smoke P.N.R. sitting down! After about one hour the intense stony feeling abates leaving you in a pleasantly relaxed, dreamy state. You can experience the full medical benefits from the indica stone without uncomfortable side-effects such as a hangover the next day. The pain reducing properties work similar to a massage: at the onset of the high you may feel a heightened awareness of the discomfort zones in the body, this eventually gives way to a series of warm wave-like sensations that initiate the relaxation and pain relief phase. Cramp related pain responds well to P.N.R.’s soothing effect. The medical benefits are long lasting and can be felt for many hours. We recommend a calm environment to get the most out of the stress releasing and sleep inducing properties. Smoke this strain about ½-1 hour before going to bed if you suffer from sleep disorders (experiment and see what works best for you). This is a goodnight stone that makes you wake up refreshed. We wish you sweet dreams!

8 Miles High (SOLD OUT)

!
Type: sativa-indica
Contains landrace genetics from: Africa; North India
Cultivation: indoor/outdoor
Flowering time: 60-65 days/1st week Oct. (south), mid October (north)
Yield (dry weight): 400-450 gr/m2 indoor; 800-1000 gr per plant outdoor in ground.
THC: 23%
High: a sativa-dominant high; uplifting; alert & fiery-energetic; thought provoking; trippy visuals; creative.
Aroma: a sweet-fruity melange of strawberry and melon, hash-candy, piney, minty.
Medical use: good potential against lethargy & depression; stimulates appetite.

This is a fragrant, uplifting sativa that delivers quality harvests indoor & outdoor. Special attention was devoted to making this variety a low-maintenance plant that finishes by mid-October in northern climates. Flowering sets in quickly with most plants sexing within one week of switching to 12/12. Another positive feature is the fast and profuse resin production during early flowering that rewards your efforts right from the start. 8 Miles High has proven to be very reliable under various environmental stress factors such as abrupt changes in light and temperature. Plants can therefore be moved from indoor and planted out with no adverse effects. This strain is easy to grow and has no special requirements. It has shown good mold resistance and grows well in soil with no extra feeding*, making it a good choice for growers with little experience or not much time on their hands.

The indica-type females have minimum branching, medium tall growth, and are excellent for small spaces or cultivation in close rows. The sativa-leaning pheno can be grown as a multi-stem plant or trained if this is your preferred method of cultivation. It has longer branching due to the extended internodes and exhibits great potential as a big producer outdoor. For a sea of green set-up in hydro both phenos can be used. In hydro we recommend pruning the bottom branches on the sativa-leaning females so that all energy is focused on the long central cola.

8 Miles High has a great calyx-to-leaf ratio and slim leaves that make trimming the buds a quick job. Resiny bud production throughout the plant from top to bottom guarantees a quality harvest. The aromatic properties of this strain are delightfully diverse and feature the rare trait of strawberry fragrance. During flowering a slight brush against the plants releases a wonderful sweetness with an earthy undertone. This delicate aroma is followed by the more dominant piney freshness. As the plants mature you can also detect whiffs of a sweet lemonade scent. Cured buds retain the piney-minty smell but, in addition, there is a variety of delicious aromas ranging from strawberry, melon, to hash-candy.** The smoke has a fresh minty taste and lingering sweetness to it. 8 Miles High lifts off straight to the head and triggers a lot of cerebral activity, with flashes of insights and long episodes of trippy visuals when you close your eyes and switch to auto pilot. This is a functional daytime smoke, or a wake-up call to keep you on your feet partying at night. The uplifting, almost euphoric, effect sets in once you reach maximum altitude. This energetic sativa glides back down smoothly and leaves an expansive feeling behind.

Ganesh

!
Type: indica-sativa
Genetics: Yamuna x Afghan
Contains landrace genetics from: Uttarkhand, North India; Afghanistan
Cultivation: indoor/outdoor
Flowering time: 60 days/September (south), early-mid October (greenhouse-north)
Yield (dry weight): 400-450 gr/m2 indoor; 500-800 gr. per plant outdoor in ground
THC: 20-23%
High: a potent, laid back, sativa-dominant high; sensual; body relaxation; no nervous side-effects (racy heart,etc.).
Aroma: skunky-pungent, sweet, earthy, chocolate.
Medical use: good potential against depression & anxiety; has been recommended as a muscle relaxant.

For our 5th anniversary we recreated our exotic, high-class indica-sativa hybrid "Yamuna" from the "Limited Collector’s Edition", which was issued in our first year, and crossed it with our best Afghan parent from seed stock collected in the 1980’s. The result is an impressive stout plant oozing with resin that grows like an indica and feels like a sativa. Ganesh is an excellent choice for closet cultivation or a homebox due to it’s short stature and the even growth pattern. Plants vegged for 3 weeks in soil reach a height of approx. 60cm when mature. To harvest a field of "baseball bat" type colas in regular sized grow spaces we suggest vegging 4-5 weeks for organic (soil) cultivation. Ganesh grows perfectly with little or no feeding in quality soil.*

Our unique combination of landrace genetics injects a lot of vigour into this strain and the thick shoots from mother plants provide quality cuttings over an extended period. Due to the extreme density of the buds approx. 20-25% of the plants show some mold susceptibility in the top third portion of the head bud in the last week of flowering. Therefore, this strain is best grown in spaces with humidity control (extraction fan, ventilation, night temp. above 20°C or 68F). You should also water sparsely in the last week of flowering. Wait until the plants have slightly droopy leaves and give them just enough for their daily requirement. This is a tried and tested method for strains with dense buds and very effective. A daily check of the top half or top third portion of the head bud during this period lets you detect mold early before it can cause any damage. Growing with clones, SCROG, and pruned plants (indoor/outdoor) is not affected by a higher mold susceptibility.

The dense and crystalline buds have a rich, skunky smell that underlines the top quality of the smoke. A heavy-duty grinder is recommended for these chunky buds! The taste evokes the times of the finest Himalayan hash in the 1970’s - sweet and earthy with a chocolatey finish. Ganesh combines the best of both worlds: it’s dense, glittery indica nuggets have great ‘bag appeal’ and the sativa-dominant high leaves you functional, social, yet relaxed. It’s a great smoke for fun activities like a beach party; lying in your hammock and watching the sunlight flash through the trees; sensual leisure or bodywork such as massage, yoga, Tai-Chi; and all kinds of creativity.

Hashberry

!
(Top 10 Strain of the Year 2006)

Type: mostly indica

Contains landrace genetics from: Kashmir, North India

Cultivation: indoor/outdoor (up to 45° latitude, balcony, greenhouse)

Flowering time: 60-65 days/September - 1st week October

Yield (dry weight): 450+ gr/m2 indoor, 800-1000 gr per plant outdoor in ground.

THC: 15-18%

High: the classic chill-out weed; an expansive indica stone with a powerful high that sets in with the first lungfull of smoke; the buzz is first light-headed and very balanced before switching to a stronger narcotic phase towards the end of your flight.

Aroma: fruity-berry, blackcurrent jam, hashy.

Medical use: good potential against anxiety; nervousness/hyperactivity; very recommendable for sleep disorders and can be applied for a variety of other medical uses. It has calming effects for moderate pain relief (may not be efficient against certain symptoms of serious or chronic pain).

With this exceptional new strain we are building upon our successful breeding lines to offer growers an indica that combines the best of many traits. Hashberry is the unique result from a rigorous selection of desirable parents, with special attention paid to preserve the hybrid vigor our strains are so valued for. This indica will grow to a medium height and is a good choice where space matters and excellent for SOG. Hashberry develops a tight and heavy head bud with dense buds located on her firm side shoots. You will notice that many plants cover the bud leaves with a coat of THC glands and these will fill your pollinator/bubble bags generously. This strain still remains easy to manicure, and the dried buds have great "bag appeal". The buds reveal a refreshing fruity-floral scent during the flowering period. After proper drying and maturation their fragrance transforms into a delicious hashy-berry like aroma. Hashberry not only has hybrid vigor, but is also very heat resistant and easy to grow. We recommend keeping humidity levels and watering low during the last 2 weeks of flowering to prevent any mold in the compact top buds.

Kalichakra *new edition*

!
Type: mostly sativa
Contains landrace genetics from: South India/S.E. Asia
Cultivation: indoor/outdoor
Flowering time: 68 days/October
Yield (dry weight): 500-550 gr/m2 indoor; 850-1200 gr per plant outdoor in ground.
THC: 17-19%
High: very pleasant and smooth sativa high with no negative side effects, mood-enhancing to euphoric, sensual and stimulating. Great for active recreation or relaxation.
Aroma: fruity, minty, sweet.
Medical use: medical-grade marijuana for broad spectrum medical use. Assists against depression and lethargy.

Kalichakra is named after the Indian goddess Kali (a consort of the ganja smoking Lord Shiva) and combines unique landrace genetics from South India and the Golden Triangle. Unlike typical sativas she grows extremely well indoor and has been known to perform satisfactorily even under low light. She is surprisingly adaptable, easy to grow, and a good choice for novice gardeners. Mother plants provide abundant clones. The cuttings can be placed into flowering early for cultivating shorter plants on a hydroponics table, in a Homebox, etc., or to decrease flowering time. In hydroponics rapid growth can be expected and with CO2 enhancement in the air you can harvest huge bumper crops (adjust the EC of your nutrient solution to a higher level when using CO2).

Kalichakra responds well to being tied down and can grow an impressively large main cola from the even light distribution. However, due to the airy growth pattern light passes through to all flowering shoots. Therefore you don’t have to tie down the plant unless you unexpectedly run into problems with height or have a very poor light source. We recommend this strain for SCROG and nearly all plants can be easily fitted into a SOG (sea of green) style grow despite the branchy growth. Due to the low odour this is a good choice as a "stealth strain" for discreet cultivation.

Kalichakra grows fat conical shaped buds that usually peak in towers of calyxes. The calyx-to-leaf ratio is exceptionally good and makes harvesting very quick and simple. The phenotype with the long head bud dominating the plant is a "keeper" (good choice as mother plant or breeding) for highest yields. With 4 weeks vegetative growth indoor under 400W HPS/m2 in quality soil the height of the plants averages between 100-120cm. More than half tend to grow around the 100cm mark. Plant height can be easily controlled by choosing a shorter vegetative time or pruning the top bud. The plants grow in a typical sativa style with a christmas tree shape and medium to long internodes. Some may need support towards the end of flowering, to support the heavy buds, if the plant has not been pruned or is not standing in close rows in a SOG setting. To maximize yield and strengthen upper branches it can be useful to remove the branches at the bottom 2-3 internodes on plants from seed before switching to the 12/12 light cycle. Although you can harvest after 68 days some plants from seed may still develop fatter buds for an extra week (clones tend to finish earlier). You can reduce the light cycle by an hour prior to harvest to speed up flowering if you are in a hurry. This sativa has good mold resistance thanks to our dedicated breeding goals in minimizing undesirable genetic traits. Up to 45°N Kalichakra can deliver high yields outdoor and is one of the best strains available for hot, warm-temperate and tropical zones. In far northern climates we recommend a greenhouse. Results and harvest time will depend on plant care and local weather.

A sweet-minty taste accompanies most of the fragrant buds. The high is smooth and starts up leasurely. It is especially well suited for persons sensitive to a racy heart or anxiety. Kalichakra can have a very positive mood-enhancing effect which gives you a sunnier outlook on life. A warm and relaxed bodily sensation is not uncommon in combination with the functional, social high. It’s a great daytime smoke for all kinds of activities, but also helps you lie back and relax whenever you feel like it. You could call it balanced yin-yang ganja that unites the best of both worlds.

Mandala #1 (SOLD OUT)

!
Type: sativa-indica
Genetics: S. African Highland Sativa x NZ Purple Indica & North Indian Sativa
Flowering time: 55-60 days indoor; mid-end of September: outdoor/greenhouse
Yield (dry weight): 450gr/m2 indoor, 800-1200 gr per plant outdoor in ground.
THC: 18-21%
High: an up-high that spreads in waves; euphoric; creative; can also be spacey or dreamy at the start; long-lasting.  Outdoor plants have an above average potency even under harsh conditions.
Aroma: properly cured buds have a natural sweet smell like dried apples. The purple plants spread a delicious raspberry fragrance, with a touch of minty freshness.
Medical potential: can benefit with it's anti-anxiety & anti-depressive effect. This strain can be applied for a variety of other medical uses as well due to it's exceptional quality.

EARLY STRAIN: OUTDOOR RECOMMENDATION FOR 35°- 58°N

Mandala #1 is a good choice if you are aiming for a quick crop with a sativa effect. We recommend this strain especially for northern climates where harvesting by the end of September is a priority. This strain has two basic phenotypes (characteristic plant types). Approximately 30% of the plants belong to the sativa dominant phenotype and grow in a christmas tree shape. The leaf structure is similar to the indica dominant pheno. Purplish leaf stems and light red stripes along shoots are not uncommon and should not be mistaken for a nutrient deficiency. The young flowering plants have a perfumed woody-herbal fragrance when you rub the stems.* Despite the sativa dominance the buds are chunky and the plants are easy to grow. The indica type pheno is apparent through it's squater growth, thick main stem, and larger leaves. Branches are shorter, growing upwards close to the plant (perfect for SOG). The side shoots towards the top are also short and give the head buds a more compact structure. This pheno tends to develop a sweet-spicy smell during early flowering. Mandala #1 flowers with a spear-shaped head bud of considerable length that makes this a high yielder. Resin output is impressive - also in outdoor grows. The prime head buds are coated with a thick layer of trichomes and glisten brightly in the sun. Some plants develop beautiful dark purple calyxes during mid-flowering: a trait which they inherited from the New Zealand Purple Indica in the paternal line. Harvesting is very simple since the calyx-to-leaf ratio is predominantly high.

Indoor: One of our breeding goals is to ensure that our strains are flexible and stable so that plants can be raised indoor and undergo the light stress of switching between artificial lighting and sunlight. It is therefore possible to start your garden indoor and shift the plants outdoor for flowering. Cloning and regenerating Mandala #1 is easy. Since this strain has a high percentage of landrace genetics that were adapted to growing on nutrient poor soil, the plants subsist easily in good horticultural grade potting soil and require little feeding if any. We recommend to provide an adequate pot size for healthy growth. Height is average and even the sativa pheno can be accomodated in small indoor spaces if a 12/12 light period is started early. A Sea of Green style cultivation is best with the Indica phenotype or with clones (rather than from seed) of both phenos. All plants are suitable for SCROG and other forms of training.

Outdoor: This early flowering strain shares the benefits of hardy landrace genetics and a very resinous hybrid to produce robust plants with high bud quality. The early flowering traits in this cross initiate bud development quickly enough for an abundant yield in September. Even if harsh weather circumstances require harvesting before all plants reach full maturity, they will still deliver a satisfying amount of resin-coated buds.

The feminized edition from 2008 is SOLD OUT!

The feminized seeds have been tested under stressful conditions that reflect the most common negative growth conditions the plants may sometimes be subjected to. This included moving the plants indoor to outdoor (light stress), keeping them rootbound in small pots (nutrient and root zone stress), cold temperatures, and advanced pest infestation. All tested plants proceeded to grow as females despite these adverse circumstances and Mandala #1 once again proved how tough and resistant she is! However, it is still advisable for outdoor growers to check their plants at least once during flowering to make sure that they are all exhibiting pure female flowers. This is especially recommended to guerilla growers who are cultivating in areas with very poor soil quality and where plants may suffer from severe nutrient deficiencies. Contact us if you require tips on how to avert deficiencies in sandy or other inhospitable soils.

We are delighted to report that up till now not a single customer has reported any problems or hermaphrodites with their feminized Mandala #1 plants.

Mango Zamal is a 100% sativa with a pleasurable cerebral high. In this landrace hybrid we have largely preserved zamal’s outstanding characteristics, but modified essential features so that it has become more stabilised and easier to grow. The decision to use a South Indian strain to complement zamal was based on our lifelong experience of breeding landraces optimally, plus the fact that the zamal is originally a blend of South Indian and African genetics. The aim of this edition Mango Zamal is to make these rare landrace genetics available for cultivators and breeders who appreciate pure, unique sativas.
There are several variations of zamal distinguished by aromatic qualities such as 'mango-carrot', 'citrus', 'peppery', 'earthy', and so on. The mango-carrot enjoys the best reputation for quality and taste. This landrace strain has the luxury of an on-going tropical season and can be harvested for many years on La Réunion, with impressive yields that would make any grower smile with delight. Zamal is a very strong and resistant plant, certainly a valuable trait on an island affected by hurricanes. For the zamal mother we selected a male parent from an old and reliable South Indian stock that has been tried and tested by us since we collected it in 1992. The particular male chosen for this project convinced us through many outstanding traits that will serve this zamal hybrid well. The new infusion of genes from the male has tamed the wild zamal sufficiently, so that it now offers the possibility of pre-sexing and cloning plants indoor before planting them outdoor. The Lakshmi genetics contribute: impressive stress resistance, controllable plant height, greatly enhanced calyx-leaf ratio, reduced flowering time, larger bud sites and more stability.
The aroma and taste of Mango Zamal is varied and depends on your soil type and other environmental factors. During flowering a mild Mango fragrance is not uncommon. It is usually overlayed by other stronger smells that range from carrot to citrus. The cured buds from some plants lean towards a fruity-honey aroma, whilst others have more of a lemon cleaner smell. The high starts up quickly with a slight pressure to the head that abides quickly. An alert yet calm state of mind follows and for the duration of the high you will find concentration and creativity enhanced. Mango Zamal is not overpowering and does not trigger any of the anxiety type side-effects typical to some sativas.

Indoor
Although Mango Zamal has been primarily created for outdoor you can flower the plants indoor under 400-600W HPS for sexing and selecting mother plants for cuttings. Some of the females can even be harvested indoor, although this is only recommended for special purposes since yield and resin production under artificial light is below average. The growth of Mango Zamal is vigorous, an important feature that allows an indoor life cycle of 14-16 weeks from seedling to harvest. 400-600W HPS is required for flowering and at least 250W HPS for growth or to maintain mother plants. Apart from requiring a strong light source, Zamal Lakshmi is relatively easy to grow and has no special needs. The native zamal is known to be best left to grow naturally without artificial fertilizing. This has been verified through our own observations and still applies to this cross. It is very nutrient efficient and prefers to take what it needs from the soil. A quality soil mix in a 12-15L/3 gallon container should suffice for the duration of one harvest. In case a mistake is made with soil quality or container size you can provide a mild feeding to top up nutrients. Avoid "hot" soil mixes with a high EC or a lot of nitrogen. Start the 12/12 light cycle after 5-10 days in soil if you do not intend to prune the plants. Most plants show sex within 10+ days. The majority of unpruned females will reach approx. 140cm in soil. They grow tall, slim head buds, with the typical 3 finger-leaves of the native zamal strain. Indoor branching is moderate and restricted to the bottom third part of the plant. The shoots tend to arch upward, remaining close to the main stem, which contributes to the SOG-friendly growth pattern. Resin production requires patient waiting, it starts after 40 days of flowering and picks up at day 60+. The high calyx-leaf ratio makes harvesting very simple and fast.

Outdoor
This strain should be cultivated, or at least flowered, outdoors where it can show its full potential. Multiple harvests are possible and the plants can easily be reverted back to vegetative growth. Mango Zamal may show remarkable longevity (the 'immortality gene' as we like to call it) and become a long-term companion in your garden! The maritime climate on La Réunion is tropical and humid, very similar to the Hawaiian islands. During the summer the temperature averages 26°C/79°F on the coast, in winter it can drop to around 20°C/68°F or less. Our Mango Zamal is perfect for all hot, Mediterranean or tropical-humid regions, in addition to areas with a warm summer & autumn. It is recommended for equatorial countries with constant 12/12 daylight where other strains fail to grow properly. Mango Zamal is not especially sensitive to a cooler climate and can flower well as long as the temperatures sustain healthy plant metabolism (above 20°C/68°F during night recommended). Mold and pest resistance is high. Please consult the detailed climate map in our OUTDOOR GUIDE where you can best grow this strain.
In a greenhouse/outdoor it’s wise to prune the females and grow multi-branch plants with a height that suits your requirements. Under good conditions it is not unusual to get a high % of females. Although true hermaphrodites are rare you should check your females in the first weeks of flowering for any suspicious signs of male flowers to be on the safe side. The same tips regarding soil mix and avoiding potent fertilizers indoor apply to growing this strain outdoor. Read the FERTILIZING GUIDE on our website for more info and use "soft" organic soil additives such as worm castings or compost. The original zamal has very long 'tentacles' of colas, with small bud sites covered by many slim, lime green leaves that are not much fun to trim after harvest. This has been radically improved! With Mango Zamal you can expect large foxtail-like colas, with a high calyx-leaf ratio, that can be quickly trimmed and dried. More info: www.mandalaseeds.com

In 2006 we introduced our new Satori. We have refined this strain genetically to produce an even more reliable and powerful cross that will delight your connoisseur heart. Satori is an exceptionally easy to grow sativa. She has shown impressive hardiness against spider mites and other pests, and she posseses a good measure of mold resistance. Her slim appearance makes it possible to plant in narrow rows, or in SOG, to maximize her typical record yields even more. The firm sideshoots provide highest quality cuttings. As with all our sativas she is heat resistant - an added bonus for small indoor environments and hot summer grows. The mainly sweet & fruity-spicy aroma is a real treat for the senses. Satori grows a long headbud with chunky flowers and does not require much feeding on soil; you can almost do without feeding provided you use quality soil and sufficient pot size (approx. 2 gallon pots for adult plants under 250-600W lamps). Keep EC levels low in hydroponics for best results. All Mandala strains are extremely efficient in nutrient uptake due to their hybrid vigor and require only low EC levels/feeding to develop huge leaf, stem and bud structure. Satori is a high yielding, powerful plant with an exceptional sativa high. The heavy buds are easy to manicure, and from the resinous bud leaves you can produce finest grade hash, comparable in quality to the famous Nepalese "temple balls".
